A nice little road trip to Paris on Sunday saw me arrive in plenty of time for this event, I had played the golf course last year in a Alps Tour event and enjoyed the course and had a decent finish, its's always nice to go back to an area and a golf course that you are familiar with.
The course this year was very different to how I remember it played last year, club selection off certain holes had changed very much, the course firmed up as the week went on and a wind over the weekend certainly made scoring much more difficult along with some very thoughtful flag positions!!!
It was very much a week for plotting your way round and been very patient and attacking the right holes, something that i felt i did quite well apart from a few occasions!!
The first round was very frustrating and pleasing for me, I had been plodding along quite nicely at level par when i came to the 18th hole, my 9th for the day when I decided that because it was a par 5 and downwind I had to hit driver and make eagle, this didn't happen and 15 minutes and 2 balls later i was 3 over par!!!!
The most pleasing thing of the week was how i came back from that, I played the back nine in 4 under and signed for a 70, 1 under for the day.
I took alot of confidence and belief from that and played great the next day and signed for a 68 and while you're always happy at shooting in the 60's i felt like i had left a few shots out there so was a little disappointed.
The next two days were totally different with the wind picking up and the course starting to dry out and play alot firmer, combine that with much tougher flag positions i felt like anything around level par was a respectable score!
Again i felt like i played ok and hung in there but didn't score great with rounds of 72 and 73 which saw me finish T44th so I left Paris feeling happy with my game but felt like it was a week which could have been so much better
