Well this year was most defiantly not the year of the Robinson!!
I had practiced hard for the last 10 days and played at Market Rasen and had been scoring quite nicely, I flew out to Paris Monday and stayed with a friend there for the night and then we drove down to Lyon Tuesday and played a practice round. Like every round I have played this year I played nicely for a while and then completely lost my golf swing and then finished nicely again!!
I had played the course the last two years so knew it very well, A golf course that present's many birdie chances and with good greens the scoring was expected to be low.
My first round was in trend with the whole year, I played really nicely for 10 holes with one birdie and the rest pars and then the last 7 holes were just awful, I don't know how or why it happens but I can go from swinging it good to bad in a matter of swings, So with a bogey, bogey finish and struggling to keep it on the golf course I signed for a 3 over 74, with the cut looking like level par. I've not enjoyed my golf all year and it's been by far the toughest year I've played and has left me really thinking about the future and what to do.
I turned up for the second round having chatted to a few people the previous night and was pretty sure that this would be my last round of golf, again i played some nice golf mixed in with some terrible stuff to shoot a 69 and miss the cut by one, I think with a bit more desire and hunger I would of made the cut and had an ok week, but when you're heart is not in it it's very tough.
It's a very hard decision to make to walk away after having worked hard for so many years and one that I will have to think about over the next few weeks, but one thing is for sure if I can't get any financial backing then it will make the decision all that easier.
A massive thankyou to Jeff and Regine for letting me stay with them for the second year running, I'm always made to feel very welcome and it's been great fun.
